Application: MOLSALT® NaCl is widely used in the preparation of isotonic pharmaceutical solutions, electrolyte formulations, oral rehydration products, wound irrigation solutions, nasal sprays, ophthalmic formulations, and dialysis formulations. It functions as an electrolyte source and tonicity-adjusting agent in a wide range of pharmaceutical preparations.

1 Appearance It occurs as a white or colourless crystals or a white crystalline powder.

3 Solubility It is freely soluble in water and slightly more soluble in boiling water; practically insoluble in ethanol.

6 Arsenic Not more than 1 ppm
7 Barium Specified test. No turbidity is produced within 2 hours.
8 Bromide Not more than 100 ppm.
9 Calcium and magnesium Not more than 50 ppm, calculated as Ca.
10 Ferrocyanide Specified test. No blue colour is produced within 10 minutes.
11 Iodide Specified test. The substance shows no blue colour after 5 minutes.
12 Iron Not more than 20 ppm.
13 Sulphates Not more than 300 ppm.
14 Loss on drying Not more than 1.0%
15 Assay Not less than 99.0% and not more than 100.5%, calculated on the dried basis.

PACKAGING

MOLSALT® NaCl is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 5 years. It is stored in a tightly closed container.
